How to Make Your Perfume Last 36–48 Hours: An Expert Guide
Nine proven techniques to make any fragrance last dramatically longer on your skin — from application to storage.
A great perfume should last from your morning coffee to the end of the night. The good news? Longevity is as much about how you apply and store your fragrance as it is about the scent itself. Here are the techniques our team uses to get the full 36–48 hours out of every bottle.
1. Apply to moisturised skin
Fragrance clings to oil, so hydrated skin holds scent far longer than dry skin. Apply an unscented moisturiser (or a little petroleum jelly) to your pulse points first, then spray. This single step can add hours of longevity.
2. Target your pulse points
Pulse points radiate heat, which helps the fragrance project throughout the day. Focus on the wrists, base of the throat, behind the ears, the inner elbows and behind the knees.
3. Never rub your wrists together
It feels natural, but rubbing crushes the delicate top notes and makes the scent fade faster. Spray, then let it dry down on its own.
4. Choose a higher concentration
Extrait de parfum and eau de parfum carry more fragrance oil than eau de toilette, so they last longer. Every ZamZam fragrance is blended at extrait/EDP strength for exactly this reason — see the difference in our Eau de Parfum vs Extrait guide.
5. Spray onto clothing and hair (carefully)
Fabric holds scent longer than skin. A light mist on your scarf or the ends of your hair leaves a lasting trail — just avoid delicate or light-coloured fabrics that can stain.
6. Store it properly
Heat, light and humidity break fragrance down. Keep your bottles in a cool, dark drawer — not on a sunny windowsill or in a steamy bathroom.
